New Home Depot may come to Hamlin area in Horizon West, Winter Garden

A new Home Depot store may be built in the Horizon West area of Winter Garden, bolstering commercial growth in the area and keeping pace with the community's rapid residential expansion.

According to documents submitted to Orange County, the company plans to develop a large store with more than 100,000 square feet of indoor space, as well as a large garden center.

The project is part of a new phase of commercial expansion in Horizon West, which has been attracting several national brands as the area establishes itself as a major residential and service hub in the Orlando region.

Where will the new store be located?

Plans indicate that the new Home Depot will be built in the Silverleaf South area, within the Horizon West Town Center.

The land is located west of Highway 429, between Schofield Road and the future extension of State Road 516, with access planned via Valencia Parkway as the region's infrastructure is developed.

This strategic location places the project close to several residential communities and new areas under development in Horizon West.

More shopping options for residents

If the project is approved and built, the new Home Depot store will join other building supply and home improvement stores that are already coming to the area.

The presence of these large chains means that Horizon West residents will have more shopping options and less need to travel to other cities, such as Winter Garden or Clermont, to purchase materials for renovations or home projects.

Accelerated growth in the region

The interest from major retailers also reflects Horizon West's rapid population growth.

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau show that the region's population jumped from around 14,000 residents in 2010 to more than 58,000 in 2020, a significant growth that continues to attract new commercial and residential investments.

💡 What does this mean for those who invest or live in the region?

The arrival of new stores and services reinforces the value of Horizon West and Winter Garden, making the region increasingly complete, with infrastructure, commerce, and quality of life close to residential communities.
